AHM 2010: Aftermath

One of the winning numbers for 4D on Sunday 12th Sep 2010 is...........
*drum rolls*

6567

Got scolded by my mom for that
Like totally.........not my business?
LOL!
Thought at least got win something sia!
But it was not meant to be
=p

One of the high tech stuff introduced nowadays I heard
The chip that is tied to the shoelace
Heard Stand Chard Sundown all got use all these long time ago?
Hahaha!

The finisher medal!

Oh well, now at least I know I have completed a half-marathon!
:)

Realised it was quite good-looking for goodness sake

Coming in at 2h23min
BAD TIMING!

Was really disappointed with myself
But like I say, it was not meant to be

Cant sleep at 8+pm on a SATURADAY!!!!!
IN CAMP!!!!
WITH MANCHESTER UNITED PLAYING EVERTON AT 745PM!!!!

Not enough sleep
No 7hours of uninterrupted rest
Woke up at 1am
Saw Sarah's text that United let slip a 3-1 advantage
Horrors!
Cant go back to sleep
Woke up at 3+ to get ready to move off to Padang

Oh well, the only thing I did right before race day was......

CARBO-LOADING 1X
1 FOOT LONG SUBWAY MELT!

Managed to stay full throughout the race
Didnt feel hungry like the last 16km run
Was like going to go eat grass somewhere along the running route
=/

Aftermath of the AHM
(cut too much skin off, too happy to see the fluid flow out)

Had a freaking blister on the smallest toe at 16km mark?
Don't know if it is the shoes or what
Didnt have this problem during the 16km run the other time

Started the race well at Fullerton there
Feels damn refreshing to run in the CBD at 5+am in the morning
It was cool and dark
Had a pacer in the form of Ying Zheng
Really had the good feeling

And then.......we hit the bridge at MBS
It was the first mini-killer
Up-slope for 500m or so?

Then I decided to skip the water point before entering ECP
Big mistake..........!
ECP 3km no water
Hit the 8km mark and was really thirsty
Exit ECP and had stitches coming in
Press my sides for 2km and hang on till the Engineers' water point
till we exit Ford Road and hit East Coast Park
Relieve and happy that it was my own Formation
And managed to get rid of the stitches after that
U-turn at East Coast Park and saw some ppl already having cramps
Decided to skip the water point and went up Nicoll Highway
Big mistake..........AGAIN!
No water point again.............
Plus up-slope for 500m again........

Making 2 similar mistakes in a race was like..........committing suicide
=/

Finally saw the National Stadium at 7am like tat
Phew!
The 19km was the killer
Started to walk in the F1 pit
(never walk there before what!)
Told Ying Zheng to finish off the remaining 2km
The blister on the toe was killing me
Needed the pretty Salonpas girl for help!
LOL!
(ok, real men dont need Salonpas spray!)

Hit the 20km and there was this Guardsmen
"Anyone wanna fall out now?"

My mind was like..........
"Motherf****** hell, fall out now I go jump Spore river!"

Thought it was the finishing line in front
Dash and realised..............500m MORE to go
So screwed!

And the last 500m......
Every 50m there was a signage
Plus twist and turn here and there
It was torturing to say the least
All the Commando and NDU ppl were dashing in from 360 degrees
Madness FTW!
But once I see the FINISH word and the clock ticking down
It was pure motivation already
:)

Not bad lah!
143mins for 21km
1km is 6.8mins or 6min48s
If dont have blister, should be slight faster
Maybe can hit my target of 2h15mins
But oh well, under 2h30 also within my ideal range

Not bad for a 1st experience
Saw many familiar faces along the race
And plenty plenty plenty, I mean plenty of pretty girls running too
(and i mean really pretty without makeup-but-sporty-healthy that type)
All so fit, some even running faster than a lot of guys
Impressed!
So looking forward to the Nike 10km fun race
But till now, to grow back my toe's skin
:)
