香港之旅 Day 3

香港之旅 Day 3

Day 3 of HK trip started with breakfast at a local cafe....

Yes, the usual scene of HK locals deeply engrossed in their newspapers

Day 2 was actually supposed to be the trip to Ocean's Park
But we were damn shagged out from too much walking from Day 1
Thats why we postponed it to Day 3
But Day 2 was equally shagged out from the walking and climbing at the high altitudes of Lantau Island and the Giant Buddha tour
Holiday with lots of walking is damn shagged
And you dont see much fat ppl in HK
(except for 肥猫 on tv)
Now you know the reason hur?
=)

Breakfast for the day

Check out the local cuisine again!
(The pictures are making me hungry again)

The MAX-OUT 菠萝包
Its so yummy after we tasted it on Day 2
that we gotta have it again for Day 3
And the SG HK Cafe luncheon meat with maggi mee done in HK-style
Authentic taste
Sandwiches with ham and egg

And the..........."off-the-charts-oh-I-flew-to-heaven-and-died" egg tarts
You know how good they are?
Freshly baked and served once it is out from the oven
The crust is so crispy and it cracks and breaks nicely in your mouth
And the yellow custard in the centre has a hardened layer on top
With warm watery melty custard and egg drooling out
So much so that you can...........sluuuuuuuuuuuuuurp it up bit by bit
And the best part - 60 cents each!!!

Singapore?
HOW TO FIND YOU TELL ME?!!

And yes, we 打包 some out of the cafe on the way to Ocean Park
Totally rocks~!
;)

And the sights and sound again at Prince Edward
Fa Yuen Street en-route to taking MTR to Ocean Park

Bought the tix for the entry and bus ride to Ocean Parks
I think it cost around 30-50 bucks?
Came with different forms of animal prints on the tix

Then after which we boarded the shuttle bus there
Plenty of ppl already queuing up in the early morning

FINALLY!
香港海洋公园!

The Mascot at the entrance

The cutest soft toy in the entire Ocean Park!

There was even a free hot-air balloon ride
(with a 45 mins waiting time though......)

Any idea on the very 1st attraction we went to?

See before so many professional and digital compacts on standby?
Thought this was the scene at a sports event or some celebrities-filled show?

Well, judging from the first 2 pics you can have some ideas already.....

TADA!

Panda! 熊猫!
One of the most endangered species in the world!

LIVE IN FRONT OF MY EYES!

OMG max coolness!

So fat, so round.....just so.........cute?
Hahaha!

It is like a piece of lard plonk on the grass
With its round paws picking up the small food pieces
And how it slowly gnawed and chewed
Plus the 2 sorrowful yet somehow cute black eye patches
With the almost invisible eyeballs
(from far you cant really see its eyes until you go damn close)

I TELL YOU AH!!!!
YOU NEVER BEEN TO HONG KONG IF YOU NEVER SEE
THE PANDA
@ HK OCEAN PARK

(and I completed 1 of my personal objective in my entire life!)

The panda is like a celebrity
It comes out for a walk for 15mins
Then it disappeared behind the cages
Damn were we lucky or what
The tourists who came in later only could view them on the livecam
Sadded......

And we made our way to the other panda enclosure
The enclosure is like some playground for the panda lah

The fatty sitting down like a piece of lard again
Cute is the only word to describe them
Like S-E-R-I-O-U-S-L-Y?!

And this panda can even show off its nimble skills by
scaling the tiny tree branch
And I thought they were just plain fat and cute

After sticking around for some time
The best thing happened

The panda came over to this piece of huge ice block
With a big pool of water underneath it
The panda then proceeded to bath himself
Playing with the water and cooling himself off
And its like less than 1m away from me
All shots done without zoom please!

And you still thought dogs were cute after bathing themselves
Wait till you catch a panda bathing himself then
=D

The B&W panda closest relative
The red panda
Looks like a miniature version of the real panda though

Checked out some fun-loving otters too!
And the weird creature of Jon's fascination, marking our visit to Ocean Park

After making sure we combed the whole of Ocean Park lower level
We proceeded to make our way to the higher levels of Ocean Park

And we took this damn cool Ocean Express tram
With its signature robot and menacing seahorse guardian

Designed to be like a underwater submarine cum treasure hunting ride
Comes with sealed overhead hatches
And 3D images being screened inside
With 90% dark ambient and surround sound
It was quite a nice and innovative experience to proceed up to summit

There was an attraction for kids to feed the seals
And boy were the seals clever

Playing dead
Jostling for position and then jumping up to catch the fishes in the air
Good stuff there!

Next
We proceeded to this jellyfish exhibition

And man we were treated to this eye-catching display
From Portuguese Man-Of-War lookalike jellyfish
To those floating with their jelly head inverted aka
touching the floor instead of floating upwards
To small wispy crush-able ones
And those kept in coloured "Alien Vs Predator in Area 51" tanks
Coolness was an understatement in itself!

The following tour was of a underwater world

And I realised that turtles could get SERIOUSLY BIG
Stingrays have a smiley face underneath
Which bears a 99% resemblance to the Scream's mask
( totally a personal favourite =D )
Ancient fossil-like creatures such as the noctilnus(?) do exist
(the shell-like one below the stingray)
And the lohans are not those SG Hougang Ave 8 size
They are of monster proportion though

This was what we normally did in our spare time
Transferring drinks from 1.5L bottles to 500ml

I think a lot of ppl who see this will go.....

" Eeeeeeeeek! So UNCLE! "

Oh well
When they go to HK
And they realised that walking is like the most natural thing to do
And without sweating but still losing water
Then this is the best way to save yourself from dehydration
And carry on to enjoy the holiday in HK
Yup, by carrying on to walk!
=)

Damn sadded THE DRAGON was under maintenance
It was a double 360 roller coaster
Looks damn exciting

Well, the Abyss looks boring
After the Demon Drop in Taiwan 六福村 amusement park
Nothing can beat this kinda of drop from the heavens ride anymore
The Genting is not bad, I think better than the Abyss
Judging from looks la

It was madness queue
And only goes once per 15mins?
Damn slow
Cannot take it

So lastly we settled for the wooden roller coaster
As shown in the last picture
It was called the Mine Tram or something?

We were already super shagged that we had to walk 20 mins
To get to the ride itself
Uphill and downhill
So to reward ourselves....
We chose the last 2 seats
And did the ride..................

HANDS FREE!

1st time in my life I did that
And totally never regret a second of it
It was so crazy that the last turn before the killer slope
My hands swing with the G-force and hit Jon's face
Before we go AHHHHHHHHHH down the drop
And the view was awesome!
Totally just beside and above the sea
So it was like viewing the ride from above the sea
O-W-N-Z!

The longest outdoor escalator in the world
Or the 2nd longest outdoor escalator
(need to go wiki it though)

The other interesting sights in Ocean Park
The stuff they sell are damn cute but not so practical
Ok cuteness factor >>> practicality

And yes the crocodile is a crowd's favourite
Has a napkin too!

After completing the whole of Ocean Park
We went back to our hotel area to put our stuff first
After which the search for good roasted food.....

Our #1 favourite restaurant in HK!
After yet another crazy being squashed experience in the MTR

You cant wait to get out and look for food
Always in a state of hunger

And certainly the dinner didnt disappoint
Just check out the pictures

With authentic HK 冻鸳鸯 aka ice cold coffee + tea combi
And the roast duck/goose and char siew

I TELL YOU
DONT COME BACK FROM
HONG KONG

IF YOU NEVER EATEN THESE
2 DELIGHTS BEFORE

Once you have tasted the roast duck/goose and char siew
You will never look at 鸭饭 or 烧肉饭 the same again
Never will you forget the taste in your mouth
Cuz......
It has beautifully scarred and traumatize you in the heavenly way
=D

Oh ya, you can just eat the damn oily part w/o feeling sinful
Best if we can just have a plate of the duck's skin too!
=D

And did I say the rice served was damn good too?
一粒一粒
Separated so exquisitely you can use the chopstick to pick the rice grain
One by one

In additional with the 油菜
The dinner that night rocks big time!

And what do we do after we fill our stomachs?
Go out and enjoy the night view of Victoria Harbour!

Finally got to catch the Symphony of Lights

Not REALLY that spectacular
(maybe due to lack of fireworks)
But still worth the time
Well, you don see buildings in Spore CBD area shooting laser lights out right?

And the night view captured on the DSLR
The pictures turned out real good in the end!
Damn relieved and glad at the same time
The 2 pictures were one with flash, the other w/o
Luckily did my homework on night shots before going to HK!
And there was natural support at the Harbour viewing area
:)

Plus there was these 2 Spore girls besides us
One of them sneaked a look at my cam when I review my shots
And she said “ Wah! 很美哦! "

Then she break out in a mixture of English and Chinese
And you know confirmed is Singaporean already
Other than us, no one mixes the languages like us
And she was quite pretty too!
Great to see Sporeans in foreign countries too

Rough estimate slightly our age or older
She went off after the show before having the chance to make small talk
=/
*punch fist*

Oh well, we saw Bruce Lee at the Avenue of Stars too
And my DSLR died after the Symphony of Lights performance too
Sadded to the max!

The day pictures at the Avenue of Stars would be better
It would be shown in Day 4
So watch out for it
=)

After that
We went to the Sports Goods street besides Ladies Street

Damn, there were like 20-30 Nike and Adidas shops there!
Overcrowding is like the best word to describe it

Well, despite the overwhelming number of similar shops
Good deals and offers were hard to find
Jon got a nice Adidas Polo tee at $25 bucks
Whereas in SG it would easily cost $50 at least

I got a Kobe Bryant tee for my bro
And.....nothing much la
Too much T's at home already
And I only get to wear my own shirt twice per week?
Damn disappointing right?!

But there was this Nike Basketball Concept shop
Which has all the Air Jordans and Kobe Hyperflights
NICE~!

And the T's there I think in SG you wont be able to find similar designs
So yup, great to go there to get dri-fit Adidas and Nike shirts

Touring the 20-30 shops later
It became like a damn exhausting affair
And it was becoming late already
Every night we go back hotel at 11+ close to 12
Action-packed right from the word " GO! " at 8am in the morning

Oh ya, did we have supper or what?
Cant rmb that particular night
Only rmb we went back to play with the panda toy we bought

Trying out the 50mm standard lens f1.8 makes my hand itch for 1 myself
=p

It became like a football to us though

Well the following shots were more conceptual...

I thought the 2nd one was quite cute
=)

And for the " Picture-Of-The-Year "

Received quite a few comments on it being damn cute
My buddy from BMT even said it was like " WTP! Cute sia! "

*WTP stands for What The Poop btw

And you realised the panda's hands are too short to press the shutter button
LOL!
Other than that
It looks like a real pro with his eyes looking through the view finder
And the Nikon snap over its body
Perfect!

Of cuz the bokeh effect of the clear picture in front blurred background behind
Works wonder!
Should save up for the f1.4 already!
=)

And we played around the camera like till 1+?
Before knocking out till Day 4

香港之旅 Day 3 - Completed
:)
